KUALA LUMPUR: Movie lovers celebrated the Malaysian DVD release of Luc Besson’s impressive “The Lady” this week.
Sharon Yap distributor and promoter for the movie met with the public at the launch to discuss the film;
“It’s hard for most people today to imagine living like this. The endless media and public censorship, crackdowns on basic human rights, and the struggle for one woman to overcome the dictates of an intimidating regime. In the end, against all odds, good prevailed and freedom of choice for the people is its own reward.”
One film viewer queried “So yes getting a pro-democracy film past the Malaysian Censorship Board before an election is very difficult, but what is the movie about?”
