LONDON: Sources close to famous Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery have said the star was ‘disappointed, but in a cool suave way’ last night after hearing Jackie Chan received a datukship from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah for filming a movie in Kuala Lumpur.
“I spent several months in Malaysia filming Entrapment in 1999,” Connery was reported saying, “why cant I wear a songkok and get royal Malaysian honors too? I could be Sir Datuk Sean Connery!”
A spokesman for Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor said in response, “Jackie Chan’s Police Story 3 got 98% on rotten tomatoes, and Mr Connery’s Entrapment film only scored 38%. If he comes back to Malaysia to make a sequel, and enough of us want his autograph, we could give it serious consideration!”
