IPOH:  Just days after Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s call to one day see a Malaysian Literacy Nobel Prize Winner, Perak library announced it had accepted the challenge.

“Once we heard the DPM’s inspiring speech to boost literacy in Malaysia, our Guinness World Record holding book stackers began grabbing novels and started building,” said Perak State Public Library Book Monument director, Mohd Faisal Bakar.

“Nothing gets Malaysians interested in reading like stacking books into huge pyramids where they can’t get at them, and given the DPM’s 2057 time-frame, we will have years to build something big enough to win a Nobel Prize!”
