Dealers Accuse Proton Of Acting Like A Business

KUALA LUMPUR: Today members of the Malaysian Association of Malay Vehicle Importers and Traders (PEKEMA) accused Proton’s new management of running the car maker like an actual business.

“Why is this new Geely administration insisting we upgrade our sales outlets to also service vehicles just because Honda and UMW Toyota are pleasing customers and getting more market share by doing so?” said an irate dealer,

“This effort to keep up with the competition by reducing the cost of spares and improving customer satisfaction should be interpreted as a form of discrimination against those who’d rather wait for the government to address our falling market share by giving Proton another soft loan.”

It is understood PEKEMA members are considering a plan to pressure the government to order Honda and Toyota to close some of their 3S service and spares centres to bring customer expectations down to a more manageable level.
