DELHI: Sources close to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Ministry of External Affairs today sympathised with Malaysia’s struggle to bring 1MDB mastermind Jho Low back to face criminal charges for his role in the multi-billion ringgit 1MDB scandal.
“Yes we heard Mr Jho Low broke local Malaysian laws, and that authorities in the country he’s hiding in aren’t cooperating to return him to face punishment in Malaysia,” an MEA spokesman confirmed,
“We know exactly how infuriating it can be when a wanted man is beyond your reach while the victims of his crimes at home are demanding justice!”
“We Indians recall a certain Islamic preacher who was given permanent residency status from a SE Asian Country. He’s wanted in India in connection with inciting terrorism and money laundering. It’s been many months and we’re still waiting for this country to return him to face the music.”
“Yes, these extradition cases can really suck!”
