KUALA LUMPUR: Experts following the case of Lawyer Fadiah Nadwa Fikri today urged Malaysians not to allow the nation to descend into respectful, intelligent discourse when there were so many interest-group mobs who can quickly end disagreements by threatening violence and filing a sedition report.
“There’s no need to allow matters of royalty, religion, and sexual preference to collapse into rational discussion,” explained respectful debate avoidance analyst, Abdullah bin Bakar,
“There isn’t a disagreement in this world that can’t be settled by issuing death threats, threatening public protest and filing politically expedient police reports. In this New Malaysia, the government cannot allow these issues to descend into the madness of respectful discourse!”
“With Lawyers investigated for asking questions and qualified press officers losing their jobs for fighting for LGBT rights Malaysia’s government finds itself in the utopian ‘sweet spot’ of disappointment every administration strives to achieve, of letting down loyalists who voted for them while pandering to sensitive groups who probably never will.”
